The Ibis and The Owl by Debra Hood - Original Artwork

The Ibis and the Owl is a playful love letter to Brisbane’s inner-city river suburbs. In the foreground, our cheeky ibis mistakes the decorative verandah brackets of a classic Queenslander house, for an owl. You can also spot a cute little Bronco’s garden gnome on the steps of his home  - a little moment of humour hidden among the colour and pattern.

Behind the layers of subtropical gardens and heritage homes, the Brisbane River winds past familiar landmarks, including the Brisbane Powerhouse with the iconic FLOOD sculpture, the old CSR sugar refinery, now known as  Cutter’s Landing, and the area of Teneriffe, Hardcastle Park by the heritage-listed Hawthorne Citycat stop. A vibrant celebration of Brisbane’s architecture, wildlife and river life – where the everyday becomes art.
