Estelle's on Stanley (2023) by Debra Hood
Typical of Postwar homes in the area of Camp Hill, Carina and Mount Gravatt etc, this house sat on a large sparse block and random concrete paths and garden edges. Many are being pulled down and replaced by the cookie-cutter block homes that take up most of the land. Asbestos was included on many building materials from 1930-1970 and this makes them a fiscal challenge to modify and renovate.
Estelle's on Stanley is a family's tribute to their grandmothers house, now replaced but never forgotten.
