Colourbond Mangrove

Colourbond Mangrove by Debra Hood

The Colourbond Series are paintings of individual-style Queenslander homes ranging from colonial worker’s cottages to triple gables, Ashgrovian and Spanish-mission style, just to name a few. Each piece is so named because of the roof colour matching the Colorbond steel colours in Australia. Each artwork employs large areas of clashing foreground colour plains, a middle-ground house and the background suggesting the sub-tropical backyards and views beyond. Highly colourful, these works allowed Debra to place unlikely colour companions in a deliberately challenging way.
