Homegrown Traditions
Hayden’s love of Christmas can be traced back to his childhood when he would decorate the tree with his mum, ask dad’s help to hang lights outside of the house, and tune in to carols by candlelight to sing along with the music, as well as attending carols around the regional town of Charleville in the years they were hosted.
Two family traditions still stay with him as time has gone on: first are his chocolate logs, which are always a hit with the family; and secondly, he would always make paper chains with his mum to hang on the metal grate hung below the living room ceiling fan. It was a fun activity to cut up old newspaper and coloured paper into strips and staple or glue them together, and it also added some extra Christmas cheer around the house without using that dastardly tinsel that you’re still vacuuming up from 2 years ago.
